damage to frame

Hi I recently bought a speciailized roubaix frameset with seatpost set too high and stuck tight. while trying to remove the seat post I have damaged the frame. I'm not sure if its repairable, a work colleage says its not. can you let me know how to proceed

It's a heat-treated alloy frame so very difficult to effectively weld-repair. Only option would be a carbon 'bandage' to reinforce the tube joint sufficiently to stop the crack propagating any further. You can buy repair kits from www.carbonmods.co.uk

its probably not repairable but some companies will offer a "crash damage" replacement.

if you take it to a specialized dealer they will normally offer you a discount of a new frame to get you going.

i certainly wouldnt ride the bike any more.

as i say only most companies do this, not sure if specialized are one
