I need to grease my speedplay pedals soonish, but don't want to spend £40 on Speedplay's own grease gun and lube.

Can I simply buy something generic?

Just use some generic copper grease for the threads, assuming it's the threads you're talking about and not the surface of the cleat plates.
why not get it here:

jimmo62, thats just for the grease, you still need a gun to apply it to the internal bearings.
You can buy cheaper grease guns... I have this one and it works fine :

Here is some advice for when you first try it, leave the pedals on the bike, it makes applying pressure to pedal much easier.
Here is a video too :

Spin the pedals while you push the grease through, this makes sure you get all the old dirty grease out.
here is another video of someone doing it with a 3mm syringe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x1hst38NpA
Happy Pedalling
Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. I'm referring to the little grease port that is on the side of Speedplay pedals for bearing lubrication without disassembly.
I've seen the lube itself for about £11 (thanks Jimmo) but the gun is another £30! It's a proprietary size I think, as well.
Presumably you can just get bearing grease in a little gun?
(Grease is already on the spindles, but not needing a gun, that is easier to apply. I use dry lube on the cleat, since that is the moving part, not the pedals.)
EDIT: Ah, you beat me to it Ashley, thanks for the pointers.
Parker International currently has the Speedplay grease gun, complete with grease, for £27.95
Ah, now that's little more like it. Still overpriced, but doesn't make me choke on my drink! Thanks.
