Tour of Oman. Stage 1.
After many doubts and changes, my final team is:
Cavendish
Greipel
Kittel
Galimzyanov
Steegmans
Guardini
Selig
Sutton
Bouhanni
we'll see...
Good luck to everybody!!
I went
Greipel
Galymzianov
Oss
Boonen
Steegmans
Selig
Blythe
Navardaskas
Eisel
Kittel
Cavendish
Galimzyanov
Greipel
Kruopis
Selig
Steegmans
Sutton
Sohrabi
So only one different from you rjl
My team is completely different:
Sagan
Boonen
Goss
Greipel
Guardini
Kruopis
Bouhanni
Sutton
Navardauskas
Wanted to get Kittel in, but left him out at last minute for Sagan. Ended up with
Cav
Sagan
Oss
Griepel
Steegmans
Guardini
Kruopis
Sutton
Selig
Serge
For me:
Kittel
Cavendish
Gatto
Greipel
Kruopis
Selig
Steegmans
Blythe
Navardauskas
I read on velonation that sohrabi was out of the lotto team.
I have gone for
Star riders
Vicenzo Nibali (LIQ)
Fabian Cancellara (RSN)
Denis Galimzyanov (KAT)
Daniel Oss (LIQ)
Domestiques
Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ)
Christian Vande Velde (GRM)
Ramunas Navardauskas (GRM)
Aidis Kruopis (GRE)
Alexander Kristoff (KAT)
Bit of a punt really as this my team selection, was debating going for an out and out sprint team first then changing but in the end decided to go for this.
There seemes to be some very similar teams out there, Guess it will start to boil down to who backs that random DS for the the shock result
For me:
Mark Cavendish (SKY)
Andre Greipel (LOT)
Denis Galimzyanov (KAT)
Sylvain Chavanel (OPQ)
Domestiques
Christopher Sutton (SKY)
Aidis Kruopis (GRE)
Ramunas Navardauskas (GRM)
Gert Steegmans (OPQ)
I am hoping that Chavanel will be quicksteps main main rather than boonen in this tour and that they will try to set Steegmans up for at least one stage win/ high position as a little reward for last week.
I was going to go for kittel but took a last min change. Hope it wont bite me today. In both the TDU and TOQ i seemed to have quite poor starts good middles then and ok last stage so hoping his time to make better start
Kittel
Cav
Greipel
Wagner
Steegmans
Gallopin
*****(climber)
Kruopis
Selig
I have to admit that I didn't think much about this team, completely omitted Guardini without realising. So with this in mind I'll probably get my best result so far!
Sq
Ah brilliant, sohrabi not in Lotto team
Great start for me again!
Mark Cavendish
Andre Greipel
David Millar
Daniel Oss
Aidis Kruopis
Mehdi Sohrabi
Christopher Sutton
Adam Blythe
Gert Steegmans
Mehdi Sohrabi isn't there, he's off to Malaysia for the Asian championships, nice to let us know yesterday and by the time i heard it was this morning and it was past deadline
Also doesn't help that the "official" site lists NO riders http://www.letour.fr/2012/TOO/RIDERS/us/engages.html
Then there is NO tv coverage in the UK, could be very interesting if we get any scores
Right, this will be me to start off with:
Tyler Farrar (GRM)
Tom Boonen (OPQ)
David Millar (GRM)
Denis Galimzyanov (KAT)
Adam Blythe (BMC)
Gert Steegmans (OPQ)
Jeremy Hunt (SKY)
Aleksandr Kuschynski (KAT)
Pier Paolo De Negri (FAR)
Everything crossed.
Wow Giff, you know its flat until stage 5?
Rider list is there
http://www.letour.fr/2012/TOO/RIDERS/us/partants.html
wish i'd checked this sooner!
Cheers Dave, and you was doing such a good job!
sohrabi's in my team too
id say stage 4 isnt exactly flat either!
there was a couple of other last minute changes in there too... sorry folks!
Wow Giff, you know its flat until stage 5?
Possibly not a good idea to make a selection in the wee hours with a couple of malts. Either that or sheer genius
Tv Coverage is a bit pointless if you ask me
Eurosport 2 Schedule:
Stage 1 highlights: Wednesday, February 15, 12.00-12.30 PM GMT
Stage 2 highlights: Thursday, February 16, 12.00-12.30 PM GMT
Stage 3 highlights: Friday, February 17, 11.00-11.30 AM GMT
Stage 4 highlights: Saturday, February 18, 11.00-11.30 AM GMT
Stage 5 highlights: Sunday, February 19, 10.30-11.00 AM GMT
Stage 6 highlights: Monday, February 20, 11.00-11.30 AM GMT
Greipel wins the first stage.
I'm waiting for complete results...
Greipel, Galimzyanov, Farrar, Kittel, Sagan
Thats the top 5, happy with that 1st 2nd and 4th
Plus i think Sohrabi should get 5 bonus for the Greipel win and short notice withdrawl
11Greipel
Galimzyanov
Farrar
Kittel
Sagan
So Cav wasn't sprinting?
Nope, from reports so far, he finished out the back
Bit of a transfer headache for tomorrow then
Has the Iranian withdrawn?
Laughing at all the people who picked the Manx Express.
LOL
Sir Velo
Nope, from reports so far, he finished out the back
Looks like his tumble in Qatar was worse than people let on
Stumpy
buggar cav stupid guy, would have score better with my team that didnt have him
looks like im gonna use both my changes tomorrow

Cav just tweeted: Yep, not the best of days today. Ran off the road by Alexander Kristoff with 1200m to go. Shit happens. Well done to @AndreGreipel.

Fair enough.
At the speed they travel getting run off the road with 1200 to go means your out of it. Better luck next time, going to keep him in for tomorrow.
Stumpy
I'm loving this site's results http://www.xoo-cycling.ch/en/news/89/2518/
Look at the right hand side for optimism under "extra's"

According to velonation.
I seem to have lost Sohrabi from my team. I hope I've got points despite this, since he was available prior to the race.

I am not sure this is fair - I found out a few days ago that Sohrabi was out of Oman and so removed him from my team. It wasn't *that* last minute a withdrawal. I had Farrar in a few stages ago - can I have some points for him for today please? (I joke).

I dont think he means points for Sohrabi
What he means is our team is still valid, because starting a race with 8 riders makes your team invalid
Once the race has begun, do what you like, but 1st stage you have to have 9 riders in the race
Stage One
1. GREIPEL
2. GALIMZYANOV
3. FARRAR
4. KITTEL
5. SAGAN
6. BOUHANNI
7. OSS
8. GUARDINI
9. GALLOPIN
10. GOSS
11. BROWN
12. SUTTON
13. BOONEN
14. GARDEYN
15. TEN DAM
16. FRIEDEMANN
17. POPOVYCH
18. PHINNEY
19. FUGLSANG
20. GUSEV
Overall
1. GREIPEL
2. GALIMZYANOV
3. FARRAR
4. LEMAIR
5. IGNATYEV
6. KITTEL
7. SAGAN
8. BOUHANNI
9. OSS
10. GUARDINI

15. BOONEN
16. GARDEYN
17. WYSS
18. TEN DAM
19. FRIEDEMANN

you get points for whatever nine riders you pick, unlike last year it's not possible to have an incomplete team*
*shouldn't be possible
I went with the S's, Should have stuck to G's

When i went to bed last night he was still listed as being able to be picked on this site. If whoever replaced him got points i think it's only fair that they get those points for Sohrabi. A lot of us dont have the time to search websites for entry lists and expect this webiste to be correct especially less than 10hrs before kick off.
Stumpy
I quite agree Stumps and i don't know how some people "knew" a few days ago, considering it was only announced yesterday lunchtime
So, since Sohrabi would have got points through being on the same team as Greipel, does he get any? I know, I'm pushing it a bit now.
I'd personally rather get a free transfer to replace sohrabi.
Points would be nice but that's Fantasy Cycling for you!!

Sadly I also had Sohrabi in my team.
Still 112 points so can't complain too much.
Where's everyone getting the stage profiles? I've only seen them in another forum...
They come from the official site but stages 1 and 2 are the same. The Sky website has a description of the stages and say 2 has a couple of ramps but should be a bunch sprint.

Cheers Gkam, and cheers Alan T for the tip!
Keep the faith.
...but I guess it might be wise to transfer Sohrabi. So I've gone for the Flem
My wife's got (or hasn't got) sohrabi for the duration as She's a purist at heart!
I Time Trial, that way I'm not such a danger to other cyclists!
i've kept sohrabi and done some other transfers. it's not like he did any worse than my other domestiques

Top tip - google your riders names...

11th Feb (or just after) was when I 'knew' he wouldn't be racing.
I don't think Dave should be responsable for ensuring that everything is up to date and perfect all the time - he works hard enough already.

Well that site doesn't even load for me, Runtime Error, i always check my riders before finishing my team and up until lunch time on the 13th, even on the Lotto website, he was still racing

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Lets all play nice and enjoy the game.

Aaarrrggg!! it seems that today is an uphill finish (I found a real profile in a forum), so maybe it's Sagan or Goss day!! and my team with cav... aaarrrgggg!!
Damn!! Sagan wins!!
1. Sagan
2. Cooke
3. Slagter
I dont think he means points for Sohrabi
Ok, so no one got points for Sohrabi, right? He would have had to start the stage to get points, right? So, if someone abandons the race or does not finish a stage, and he's still on our team, we don't get a free transfer nor credit for their points if their teammate wins a stage?... Just wondering...

Cheers for the link, i could have missed that one in my searching, no dates of the Asian champ's doesn't help either
You must do some really in depth searching on your riders, i just do a general google, see that their fit and riding, then look up their wikipedia page if they have one, see their past results in the race or similar style races

No-one got points for Sohrabi as he didn't race, He would have had to start AND finish the stage. If someone jumps off mid stage, then correct, he scores 0 even if his team mate wins

I still want toknow the home town and country of birth for the immediate family of each rider. . . it would be so useful, and Dave simply has not delivered .
