Oh sorry, i didn't realise you were in the police force, i just thought you meant your area.

I totally get that the cut backs mean vital things can't be afforded like riot gear, BUT if there are patrols on bike after sunset then surely the police just like everyone else should be required to abide by the law??

Yes i get that you will need riot kit in certain situations, but a day to day patrol on a bike should be within the law, even though my bikes don't have reflectors of ANY kind, if i was pulled for that and the police man didn't have either, i would point that out and go on my way 19

Gkam - i appreciate your comment but at the mo with the cut backs from this Govt the Force where i'm a cop wont even pay for new riot kit (quite handy at the mo) so we have 0% chance of getting bike reflectors 14

I'm not having a dig, but if the police have SPD's fitted then there is a Shimano clip in reflector set which clip into one side of the SPD's 4

A few version's exist, but i can't be bothered doing a huge search, so here is one

But do remember this rule applies to cycles of a certain age or less. Its like a lot of legislation there is usually a cut off date

One tip I have learnt was pointed out to me on the Cycling Rules blog written by a barrister.

For some reason, lots of Police officers have no reflectors on their bike pedals. Always take the opportunity to remind them that if they were to take out their bike after dusk, they are committing an offence under the Road Traffic Act regulations!
