red light running

Changes to Belgian laws will allow cyclists to go through red lights in order to reduce travel times and make cycling a more attractive option. It is though that traffic lights make journeys up to 20% longer in large cities such as Brussels. However, the new rule is not universal and will not apply automatically to crossroads. Cyclists will not be able to cross lanes of traffic if lights are red, nor turn left, only right, unless at a T junction, when both will be possible.

The law sounds a bit complex but might be less so in practice. I do find the right turn on a red light a bit odd when I'm driving in the US.
