What's the diagnosis of the 'condition' on this rider's leg shown in the photo here?
How does that happen?
15-20 years of being a pro cyclist and getting a sports/deep tissue massage from a soigneur every day.
They're varcicose veins. It comes from a failure of the one-way valves in the leg veins that usually keep blood moving up toward the heart. Because of the back-pressure that develops, the veins enlarge.
It's mainly congenital. I think the only thing specific about cycling is that you notice more because of George's shaved legs.
23 years of racing so most like every longer training
Its George Hincapie, i dont know the exact answer to what it is, but from what i understand its something to do with his blood vessels not being able to pump back to his heart properly, causing this, its a bit like varicose veins
There varicose veins - easy for him to get sorted and doesnt take long for a doctor to do - but they are certainly unsightly!
You normally see them on older people - ladies in particular!
I do wonder how Georgie has managed to shave his legs over them tho as his legs are super smooth!
Vricose veins - got em myself
Sorry spellcheck - thats varicose
