London, UK to Sydney, Australia in 2011

I'm planning a mammoth cycle quest from London to Sydney in 2011.

My objective is to leave in Sept/Oct 2011 and cycle though west and east Europe in to Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India across to Malayisa/Thailand by boat and down to Singapore to fly to Darwin for the last leg through the middle of Australia and in to Sydney..

Have a hybrid bike, which I will kit out with front and back panniers and a tent. Wanting to take no longer than a year to do it with as little visa hassle as possible. Posting here in hope of finding any like minded cycle souls to join me on the journey. And if any body has done this cycle or a similar route and wants to offer any tips or insider information I welcome feedback.

Happy Cycling, Scott

Good Luck, i had a ride planned to Pakistan in aid of Oxfam a while back when they had their Pakistan appeal

Never came off because the lack of sponsorship and also the safety advice from various companies involved with security out there, Iran and Pakistan as simply not safe enough to cycle through

There is the governments advice for Pakistan and Iran, I would tend to heed this "We advise against all travel to within 100km of the entire Iran/Afghanistan border, and to within 10km of the entire Iran/Iraq border. The Pakistan border area is also insecure"

So cycling would be a no no in these areas and camping would just be a risk to far, I'd advise looking at another route
