Keirin Crash

Back in the UK for a weekend so I've been able to watch the track world cup races.

Damned glad it was on red button not full HD last night.

If you haven't seen it - and are not of a squeamish disposition - check out the splinter that appears to have gone through the calf of Awang, the Malaysian rider.

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

The 'splinter' (tree!?) was torn up off the track by a pedal I think.

The Spanish rider looked pretty reckless the way he was positioning himself-Hoy's fortunate he'd already beasted his way past or he'd have been down on the track picking bits out himself too!

Gripping stuff and good to see Hoy's still got the juice!

That's not a splinter, that's a plank of wood.

I wondered what all the fuss was about until I saw the replay of Awang leaving the velodrome on a stretcher. He did well to get back on his bike and finish third.

"Tis just a scratch!" - Monty Python anyone???

In all seriousness though, how can this happen? Bloody lucky it went through his leg and not another part of his body containing vital organs.
