Increase my costs as a result of an at fault accident?

My own insurance company simply just told me they raised my rates due to an at fault vehicle accident, however , I didn't get any ticket for that car accident. Is this : fair?

Do you mean you had an accident in/on a vehicle which is insured in your name and it was your fault and as a result your insurer has increased your premium?

If you answered Yes then it is fair; you are a proven insurance risk and therefore attract higher premiums.

If you mean that someone else caused the accident and your insurer is now penalising you, it's due to the 'additional uninsured costs' that were incurred and which have been agreed between the insurance companies involved to be yours. It's not fair but it's a symptom of the corrupt way in which the insurance business penalises innocent people.

Time to change insurers perhaps?
