What is this purple part on RD of the new SystemSix?

From the road.cc article on the Education Firsts Cannondale SystemSix, was this photo -

I was wondering about the purple part was and what difference it made to the gear change? It appears to a beefed-up replacement for both the standard RD hanger of the Cannondale frame and the first attachment section of the Shimano RD?

Wondering if they have found a lack of rigidity in those parts and want to get a more precise gear change by replacing with a single rigid linkage (with the associated downside of a crash now likely to break the frame given the sacrificial hanger is removed)? Any ideas?

It is a direct mount rear mech/link. This old pinkbike article covers the original thoughts behind the mountainbike version- https://www.pinkbike.com/news/Shimano-Officially-Introduces-Direct-Mount...

Although it's something that still exists, it's never really gained much popularity on mountainbikes, most likely because it limits choice to Shimano.

@Boss Hogg, you can use a thru-axle in standard dropouts, so it could easily be a SuperSix.

That's not a SuperSix Evo frame. It obviously has a rear thru axle, so it is probably the new Synapse.

My bad, I meant SystemSix not SuperSix - updated the OP to correct the name

Agreed, look like it could enable the use of a bigger cassette as well as a being a bit of bling/colour.

Looks like a direct mount hanger.
