Ultegra pedals - PD R800 versus older version worth the extra £20??

I have seen that the older Ultegra pedals can be had for £20 less than the new R800 versions.

Anyone know if there is much of a performance difference?

PD-5700 does it for me, bought three pairs when they were £37, the 5800 variants are inferior in every way IMHO (and creak like feck), also tried a pair of 6800s and didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I'm sure the 8000s are a good pedal just not seeing the vfm personally.

also: The 8000 series pedals are now 0.6mm lower in stack than their previous iterations, come with a 4mm longer axle and are a claimed 248g.

I'd be staying well away from any shop selling them with this description: Shimano Ultegra PD-R8000 Pedals black Design Standard 2018 Dirt Bike Pedals

Dirt Bike Pedals????

I've a pair of both on my bikes.  If there's a difference between them it's not especially obvious.

(buy the older, cheaper ones)
