Nicholas Roche column on Vuelta

Nico has been writing in the irish Independent daily on his vuelta. I picked up a couple of copies last week and found them a good insight into his race.

Anyway, I have just found the latest on line here:

If you have a few minutes it is worth a read, and catch up with Ireland's match with Andorra while you are it!

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

It is a great read - seeing the perspective of someone near the top of the GC.

Has the support of his team and gained a place back today.

Yes, in interviews, he has implied that his Dad calls him 'Nico'. I assume therefore, that all his family and friends call him 'Nico'.

cheers for that...

Is anyone else annoyed by how the commentators call him 'Nico' all the time?

Not as annoyed as he must be with people sticking an 'h' in his first name all the time 3

Don't forget he has a French mother and split his boyhood between France and Ireland, initially electing to race for France before making the switch.

The French use 'Nico' like we use 'Nick,' and his cousin Dan Martin is on record calling him 'Nico.'
