In New Zealand in Spring this is a very common occurence in spring. Magpies (quite different to UK magpies) attack anyone who approachers their nesting area, but cyclists seem particularly at risk. They regularly hit your helmet and occasionally your body. Bloody annoying things. Australian by origin of course....

It's been there for at least the last 4 summers.

All sensible riders avoid Milwich Lane at this time of year and just go up Hilderstone Lane.
