tiagra 12-30 10 speed casette

Searching for one of these (or an equivalent) as a replacement on the gf's bikes. Only found the ultegra version at £40 so far, any tips?

AIUI you can use a SRAM cassette as a straight swap.

https://www.probikekit.co.uk/bicycle-cassettes-sprockets/sram-pg-1030-10... pops up immediately, you may find it for less.

Try scouring eBay. Not too long ago I managed to buy a "mini groupset" that included a "barely used" 12-30T Tiagra CS-4600 cassette; the seller upgraded his drivetrain right away. Sometimes you can get lucky.

You could also try looking at Tiagra 4700. The new gruppo has CS-HG500 cassettes in various flavors including 11-32 and 11-34 - if your rear mech can handle the larger cog, your problem is solved. (Apparently SLX shares the 11-34T 10-speed cassette with Tiagra 4700 as they seem to share the same model number.)

New Tiagra  4700 rear deraileur can handle 11-34.

Older Tiagra 4600 will only go up to 11-32

Shimano's specs are actually pretty conservative. An RD-4600-GS medium-cage unit will handle an 11-34 no problem. Tried and tested (max capacity 39T).

If anything, it'll actually handle a 34T cog better than an equivalent 105 RD-5700-GS derailleur (max capacity 37T).

Tiagra 12-28 at wiggle for ~£20, or SLX 11-34 for ~£35 wiggle
