Running a 34 / 46 Shimano Chainset?

Alright lads and lasses,

My frame won't take a 50 big ring (don't ask) so I got a 36/46 cyclocross chainset.

Can I swap the 36 ring for a 34 ring or will it cause problems?

Cheers

I really do want to ask why your frame won't take a 50 big ring! yes

Sweet just ordered a 33t TA chainring from a well known online shaky bike part dealer.

Go for it. Just ensure your bcd's match.

34 and 36T rings are the same 110 mm BCD. It should be a straight swap.

Your front derailleur will stay happy too, as there's only 12T difference between your chainrings. Most road double front mechs have a limit of 16T difference.
