New bike or take a cab - same price!

My usual road bike was at my other address and my pub bike had a puncture, the tubes were not working and a cab to work would have cost over £60.

So I went to Tesco this morning and bought a brand new Vertigo Richmond for £70...

I have left it in the car park at work and did not have a lock but for £70...

It is heavy-ish (about 12kg) and the brakes and gears are not exactly state-of-the-art but for £70...

That's not a bike, that's a BSO - a Bicycle Shaped Object.

Ummm...good luck getting home.

Love it.. but face it - when the other bikes have broken you will still be riding the vertigo, this time next year you won't have ridden any other bike for 6 months...

Also - I would not have admitted that I was so incomptent that I couln't fix a puncture!  Get better at repairing tubes!
