New £29 million Leeds-Bradford 'superhighway' "could be fatal"

After repeatedly ignoring the many, many warnings from cyclists that the brand new £29 million so-called superhighway between Leeds-Bradford was fundamentally flawed, the local councils remain in denial despite a woman being injured twice in quick succession whilst using it.

Seriously, it sounds like hyperbole, but the route really is a KSI incident waiting to happen. This is entirely down to the shoddy design, and the arrogance of the local councils who spend their time and effort denying the problem rather than addressing it. I hope that those responsible are subject to Health and Safety prosecutions.

p.s. for those who haven't been following this unfortunate saga, this is the cycle path that is 75cm wide in some parts (for a path shared by cyclists travelling in both directions), which has bollards and utilities boxes in the middle of it, and which gives way to minor side roads in stupid and dangerous fashion.

It wasn't buult for bike riders. It was built for motorists, to get bike riders out of their way. Leeds council wouldn't participate in a highways project that does anything other than worship motor traffic.
