Flat bar and Campagnolo

My wife does not get on with the drop bars on her bike and i'm looking to convert it to a flat-bar set up. Problem is, she has Campagnolo Veloce (10 speed), so I am guessing the options are limited.

I know Campag do produce a flat bar shifter/brake lever which would be pefect, but for the price - virtually double that of regular Veloce units - so I am wondering if anyone has successfully used other brand shifters (i.e. less costly ones) with Campag mechs??

Many thanks

shiftmate maybe? although the cost and BA of getting hold of one may be prohibitive.

The drop bar shifters should have a reasonable resale value on eBay?

I did this conversion a couple of months ago on a Bianchi Nirone 7 with veloce flat bar levers... it works beautifully.

I couldn't find a cheaper way of doing it... Or indeed any other way of doing it while retaining the rest of the drivetrain.

Ribble are currently doing them for £97.
