'Thingys' that go around the cables to protect the frame / head tube...?!!?

Chaps,

whats the name of those protective wraps that go around the brake / gearing cables to protect the Head tube from cable rub?

I saw them somewhere - but cant for the life of me remember...

It's more effective to put something on the headtube ( like helitape) than on the cable if you want to protect the paint. Those bumpers still rub the paint, they are just a bit softer than cable outers.

Yes! I usually use insulation tape on the frame. If you look around diy or electrical stores you'll be amazed at the selection of colours available plus you can use it to secure your handle bar tape. A lot better than the stuff manufacturers supply !

Spiral cable frame protector might be useful search words - there was a review/bi t of chatter about them on here a while back which might help. I ended up getting some Fibrax ones from here
