New sub £1000 Road Bike

Hi.

I currently ride a Boardman HybridPro, but iI've never really been happy with it - squeaky brakes and quicklydeteoriating components.

I Cycle around 8 miles a day on roads but have never owned or riden a proper road bike with drop handlebars.

So, I'm looking for an introductory Road bike for less than £750. Ideally it will weigh less than 10kg.

The two that have caught myeye so far are...

1) http://m.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/allez-2015-road-bike-ec070568

2) http://m.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/dolomite-five-2015-road-bike-...

Any thoughtsor advice? Any better suggestions ?

Didn't Road.cc just do a 'best bikes under £750' feature?

But if I were you I'd head straight to eBay and try to find something better, second hand. So many bargains out there, with the depreciation already done for you.

Unfortunately for you, we're now getting towards the worst time in the year to bag a bargain. The end of season reductions start appearing from October, and there's very little left now.

But there are a few good buys still around. I think this is a lot of bike for just £600 (down from £750) - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/alur-700-road-bike-id_8290145.html

I got a Scott CR1 20 from Evans for £949. I suspect a fair few would say you could get better, particularly if you buy second hand - I love it though. A step up on the Felt F95 that I also have.
