Is a carbon bodied 105 pedal any stronger than a resin body r550?

This will be my first attempt at clipless pedals and was set on the cheaper, ever so slightly heavier R550 resin bodied pedal until a review noted that the plastic body was easily damaged.

Are the carbon 105 pedals likely to be any more resilient, to make it worth the extra £20 or so (I'm not bothered about the weight difference)?

I've been using the R550s for about 12 months now, near daily use. Ok, they certainly not still box fresh, but they function perfectly and I have no concerns about their durability.

I doubt it but you'd have to have a major spill to break a pedal. I'm sure the cheaper ones will be fine.

I have the r550's on two bikes (don't have the 105 pedals) I've crashed twice on one set of them, the bodies have held up fine with only a few scratches to the logos-still 100% working.
