bike by plane

I want to do some cycling in England ( south coast) and bring my bike with me on the plane can anyone give me an idea the best way to do it .

If I bring a bike bag or a box it would be difficult to store it at the airport on arrival from the return journey .

The other option would be to use the ferry then the train down to London I don't know it they take bikes on the intercity trains .

I wonder are there any buses with trailers for bikes doing that route ? planning of going early summer .

If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful,

Thanks for your help 1

you would be fine on the trains as long as not on the rush hour. I know virgin are fine as long as you prebook and it sounds the best way for you.

The old fashioned way would be to get a cardboard box that a new bike was delivered in from your LBS, pack it really well and then chuck it when you get to the airport. Not sure I would with my summer bike but know people who have.
