Budget for a build...

Might have about £1500 to spend on a bike. If I don't blow it on an off the peg carbon lovely, what should I budget? Winstanleys are advertising Aithein frames for £490, so say I allow another £500 for a groupset and £500 for wheels, what else do I need? Handlebars stem saddle pedals, anything else?

I know - how do Rose do it? Admittedly this is a discontinued model, but under 7 kg for 1200?!

I'd like to see that on the scales. I'd be amazed at a size 57 7005 frame with Ultegra and Ksyrium Elites is under 7kg. The frame and fork will be knocking on for 2kg, the group set 2.4kg, wheels and tyres 2kg and we haven't even got into the finishing kit yet.

At that price point 105 is the ideal groupset which will set you back £300. Spend 3-400 on wheels leaving ~£300 for finishing kit (seatpost, stem and bars) saddle and tyres, bottle cages etc. That's about the same as I spent on a genesis equilibrium build.

Alternatively you could also just buy a similar bike from Rose, and get the frame for free. I seriously have no idea how they build bikes so cheap 39
