How do you find cycling events?

After a few too many frustrations with trying to use the British Cycling events calendar, I thought I could perhaps use my day job skills to have a go at something better.

Before I get too carried away, it would be really helpful if I could get some feedback on different sites you use to find cycling events (sportives, races and so on) and any features or aspects you particularly like or dislike.

Here are some of the sites I've come across so far:

- http://www.ukcyclingevents.co.uk/
- /uk-cycling-events

good idea adam. what i find is missing are links to events run for or by charities or even local events run by clubs etc. the BC site seems to concentrate mainly on the big money making ones.

Thanks for all the feedback and additional places to look for events. If anyone is interested in seeing where this goes, check out the link in my signature.

www.ctt.org.uk for Cycling Timetrials (real races, not pretend ones).
But you need to be in a club. You really should be anyway, because you get so much more out of the sport by being with other very experienced riders.
Many clubs have a Sunday clubrun of between 50 and 100 miles, they are local, meaning you don't have to drive a long way to the start, and they're FREE!!!

I agree with Audax rides, excellent and as hard as you want them to be, or not.

The difference between an Audax rider and a Sportive rider?
The former is pretending he's NOT racing, whereas the latter is pretending he IS !!

I'm not keen on the BC events page either; I do use it but find I have to spend ages scrolling through.

BC is fine I think.
Set region race type and rider category and you're good to go

Having given up with sportives (far too expensive for what you get) I do audax events (essentially sportives where you navigate yourself rather than relying on signage) now using aukweb.net. Whilst the site is not the best (& is/will be updated soon I believe), the filter ability is good, online booking if you are a member is easy & the events themselves are excellent!

I use the British Cycling website, easy enough to use, plenty of filtering options on the Advanced Search. What's so frustrating?
I occasionally look at the Evan's Ride It calendar as I have a couple of free entries, this is not much fun to use.

Thanks for your input. Maybe I'm expecting too much but I just don't find it very easy or intuitive to use. It may be my lack of understanding of how it works but it shouldn't be that hard, in my opinion.

It would also be nice if you don't have to check additional sources to see what other events are happening.
