And we're off! According to @movistar we're 3km in and Alex Dowsett is off the front trying to create the first break of the day 1

Here's a nice little graphic preview of the race from @movistar in Spanish followed by a translation to English

I couldn't manage to squeeze all my favourites into one team, so they're spread over the two teams (purist in brackets). This is one race where I'm never really that bothered about the fantasy game until after - I just love watching it regardless. Would be great to see Thomas ride well (and stay upright) though. Now the tennis kicks off a great day of sport!

Sagan
Cancellara
Stybar (Van Avermaet)
Terpstra
Thomas (Langeveld)
Vanmarcke
Keukeleire (Van Bilsen)
Schillinger (W Kreder)

It looks like a persistent attacks have worked and we now have a group of leaders. Phinney is in there for BMC. Will the likes of Cannonale and Omega let that one go? Paolini is also there.

Sagan, Cancellara, Terpstra, Boonen, Devolder, Vanmarcke, Thomas, Van Asbroeck, Van Baarle. Both teams.

As identified last week, points in the break are meaningless so I'm not too fussed I haven't got any.

Great use of being able to have two teams there Twybaydos 35

I keep seeing it when I do scores, people putting the same team in for both. Seems pointless to me.

Edwig Cammaerts

Purist

170km remaining from 259.1km
the leaders have 6'08 over the peloton

Appoloino punctured so break down to10!

Could be interesting if Appollonio doesn't get back up to the leaders. Someone needs to be watching at precisely the halfway point to judge whether or not these guys get their bonus!

If all you're interested in is the single race win then yes, but if you're going for the overall then there's logic to it.

There is no overall though....in terms of season, but I suppose you could be after the classics title.

Still, some guys are putting in the same team, every race. Not just the classics

Someone captured Van Summeren crash, apparently both rider and spectator are in hospital but are severely injured.

He's not in the break, but he was still a minute ahead of the peleton when half way mark was reached.

Also, I think it was Raymond that has dropped back

Mine was meant as a bit tongue in cheek but on enlarging the pic my humour may have been a bit crass ..... Is there any word on them as the spectator looks out cold 31

I was looking at the cyclingnews live coverage and it shows 2 groups up the road. Do both count for the breakaway points, assuming both groups were up the road at the halfway point?
