Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 7

by drheaton   March 30, 2014

Should have been a difficult day today with a steep and narrow final circuit but I'm seeing rumours that heavy rain has forced the organisers to scrap the climb meaning a flat and fast finish perfect the sprinters.

Haven't seen official confirmation of this but if like me you brought back the GC guys for today it might all go pear shaped.

Latest seems to be that they're removing some of the more dangerous sections of the climb/descent shortening the stage by about 5km. Still waiting to hear how this affect the profile.

Couldn't decide whether Sammy D would go for the sprint or the GC would attack eachother. With the weather being atrocious I think Contador will go for death or glory but Tejay & Bardet may not attack. Brought TJ in for a safe 8 points. Had Lulu since day 1, hope he does something today

Got Vallee, Clement and Ratto in the break Big Grin

Guess who brought in Paul Martens this morning - about half an hour before Belkin tweeted that he wouldn't be starting Sad - that's 10 penalty points I could have done without.
I considered replacing him with Voeckler after his late finishing yesterday but didn't - now he's in the break Crying

A few days ago I decided I would definitely bring in Tommy V for today, but unfortunately I completely forgot that thought when I picked my team with a stinking hangover this morning. Haven't played this game very well this week - glad of a few days' break coming up before Flanders!

Looks like Clement was 1st over the first two climbs (the ones before the Barcelona circuit) so that at least almost repays the 10 pens he cost me.
