Volta ao Algarve - Stage 2

by drheaton   February 20, 2014

Puzzling day today, it's a day for punchy climbers but with the TT and SF stages next up I didn't want to stack my team with too many riders that would need dropping later.

In the end played safe with an eye on tomorrow bringing in Coppel and Fonte for Napolitano and Coquard giving me:

Costa
Modolo
Machado
Majka
Coppel
Kelderman
Selvaggi
Livramento
Fonte

Hoping Fonte likes the mountains jersey and tries to keep hold of it for another day Smile

After my purist team beat my standard team yesterday I've kicked out Cav, DeMAre and Lobato and brought in Costa, Spilak and Kelderman. Taken a pen

Out with Demare and Lobato. Couldn't quite afford Kwiatkowski, so brought in Tony Martin and Machado, for tomorrow as much as today.

I've delayed making the Martin/Kwiatowski call until tomorrow, I can only afford one (unless I drop Costa which I don't want to) so will decide after today which to bring in tomorrow.

The question is, is Martin knackered or saving himself for tomorrow?

Knackered or not he's in ny team for an ITT even on a bad day he's still a machine who can spin a gear us mortals can only dream of!

Kwiatkowski takes it, that's annoying as I was expecting him to keep something in reserve ahead of tomorrow.

2 (Costa) and 15 (Kelderman) are my only top 20 finishers today.

Scores are updating, turns out there was an additional 3rd cat KoM point not long before the finish with Kwiatowski, Prades and Horner getting the points.

A good day all round for Kwiatowski bagging an impressive 57 points.

Unfortunately he wasn't in my team and I only scored a pants 66 dropping me a coincidental 66 places overall Sad

Have the stage points been awarded to the correct Pereira. Was it not the V Pereira that should get the points? Not Joao Pereira

A good couple of days for me in this one (5th overall) and some interesting changes made tonight. Gone for a 10pt penalty in order to get some good TTers in, and have dropped Costa until tomorrow in order to bring in Martin and Malori. No doubt I'll rui that one.

Team for the TT
Malori
Pozdynakov
Kwiatkowski
Martin
Castroviejo
Machado
Coppel
Taaramae
Fonte

20thebear was spot on, the 12 points that Valter Pereira earned were awarded to Jose incorrectly.

An update is currently running to correct this.
