FORUM's SCORUM's MINI LEAGUE 2014(Desert and Mediterranean legs)

by ray silvester   February 8, 2014

Just a few points of business

1)The League we are using is the one with apostrophe's named Forum's Scorum's with an ID of 76157

2)As well as the standard competitions we will also have a UCI type ranking system(to be reffered to as FSUCI) based on pts assigned for stages and competitions as follows:

Grand Tour Overall:35,20,15,10,7,5,4,3,2,1
Grand Tour Purist Overall:10,6,3,2,1
Multi Stage Race Overall:10,6,3,2,1
Multi Stage Race Overall Purist:5,4,3,2,1
Autumn Classics/Spring Classics/Worlds/Commonwealths/Womens World Cup Overall Competitions(standard only):20,15,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1
Every Stage(excluding TTT):3,2,1....ties will be broken by GC position within that competition and then within the game.
Queen Stage in Giro/TDF/Vuelta:10,8,6,4,2,1

I'll try and outline the points available for each competition prior to the start

3)CUT OFF TIMES

a)Teams must be entered into the league on stage 1 of a tour/multi stage competition to be considered for the GC in that race.

b)Teams must be entered by STAGE ONE of the SPRING CLASSICS to be considered for GC in the Overall Competition.

c)Teams will be considered for stage FSUCI ranking points for individual stages on the stage in which they enter......and FSUCI ranking points for competition GC from the first race that they are entered for AT STAGE ONE.

4) Below we will keep a record of the individual competition winners and add them to those of 2013

Looks like a stewards inquiry with the scoring on stage 3 over Degenkolb's points......going to delay scoring it here.

Very competitive mini-league this season TER......4 of the top 10 on the season overall(including No1 and No3)so far.

Still....2nd place on the Forum's Scorum's Tour Med stage 3 pipped only by FSToQ winner Julie Danson and ahead of adholman is not to be sniffed at.

cherrypicked remains in the yellow polka jersey with his PURIST team......he couldn't go all the way with it could he?

I'll put up the FSUCI rankings after the ITT

You could set up a spreadsheet, copy in the totals and program it to take the previous total from the current total, fiddly but it should work.

In the absence of an export data as csv function on the website, I did the following:

Copy Stage 4 results of league into Excel
Copy stage 3 results of league into Excel
SORT both columns alphabetically
Subtract Stage 4 from Stage 3 to get stage result (assuming no new members)
Rank results of column
Filter to read 1st, second and third

Doing the following on today's results seems to agree to my hypothesis on the data, perhaps you would like to use that method Big Grin Wave Day Dreaming

PS - Does the good doctor get points for 2nd and 3rd for his purist?

That's kind of the method I would use but you could automate a lot of it, I'll throw something together when I get a bit of time later this week. If you've seen the 'pick three' spreadsheets I set up it'd be something similar.

I've also mentioned to Dave in the past about an 'export' function that would allow people to play around with the data more so something may come of that eventually.

I kind of like searching through the green arrows one-by-one to be honest

#OldSchool

The good doctor does indeed score points for his standard and purist teams finishing se4cond and third in the Forum's Scorum's Tour Med ITT(bloddy Cummings is on fire!!)but it's Twybados who wins the skinsuit race....adding the points for saturday mornings short stage the FSUCI
rankings now look like this:

1)Julie Danson 19
2)silas chime 16
=3)the domestique,Wig_Billy 12
5)stevemarks 11
6)Twybados 10
=7)cherrypicked,naffets 9pts
=9)ray silvester,drheaton 7
11)willskill 6
=12)Ghedebrav,andynic,adholman 5

=27)johnny2names,Alan Tullett,Dave Atkinson,simon F,debbie g,chiv30,space cowboy 1

TERatcliffe is the new yellow polka dot jersey wearer in the South of France but has only a 1pt lead over cherrypicked so......all to play for on the last stage climb to Toulon....and naffets could easily take it if he picks up the stage winner today whilst others will have already turned their attention to the last 2 races of these Desert/Med legs in Oman and the Algarve.

Should be a nice 13 points for me, with a stage win and overall victory (I think)

(Also think my purist team may have come 5th out of purist teams so maybe anther point too)

Forum's Scorum's TourMed stage 5 was won by TERatcliffe from Twybados and cherrypicked to secure his first title of the season.....he must like it out there on the French Riviera as he won the purist last season(taken by Wig_Billy this time who took the standard last year!!)

cherrypicked had a race to remember to be honest and now leads the season overall and the FSUCI rankings.....chapeau indeed

Forum's Scorum's Tour of Oman stage2 was taken by rcorbin with a HUGE 214pts from naffets and happylemon(lemon pipping sister c4rolina on race GC).....unfortunately he is INELIGIBLE for GC on this race but will pick up points for the stage(see rules re start stages)......happylemon leads the race

And her they come TER....

Forum's Scorum's TOUR OF OMAN

race leader happylemon

Stage 4: 1)Ghedebrav(purist) 2)Wig_Billy 3) Wig_Billy(purist)
race leader happylemon

hell of a lot of 127 scores and lots of purists going well in this stage

Stage 5: 1)nata1ia 2)simon F 3)chrisdstripes
NEW race leader naffets(tut-tut lemon....no Froome....and your sister takes the stage?)

Stage 6: 1)adholman(purist) Applause 2)the domestique 3)backflipbedlam

An absolute dead-heat for the overall win between naffets and nata1ia with countback seeing the race going to naffets on season GC......particularly harsh on Nata1ia as she is not premium and so has no chance really of getting as many points as naffets on the season but.....how else are we going to differentiate?

FINAL GC(plus FSUCI pts):

1)naffets 10
2)nata1ia 6
3)happylemon 3
4)stevemarks 2
5)cherrypicked 1

PURIST:

1)ray silvester 5 Surprise
2)Twybados 4
3)chrisdstripes 3
4)adholman 2
5)johnny2names 1

I tell you what TER I hope those points you're after came in Algarve(scores to come in a minute as well as a hugh FSUCI ranking update!!)

I have to say that I'm quite liking this scoring format although I'm not sure why cherrypicked gets to be 2nd and 5th Thinking

I've got a couple of ideas around league formats that I'm going to put to Dave for consideration at some point and being able to create a (premium) league that uses this scoring format is one of them. It'd probably be a bugger to implement though Confused

I'd be interested to see how well someone did by sacrificing their overall score in order to concentrate purely on sprint stages (ie kept transfers over or kept sprinters in for mountain stages) so that they could pick up more stage win points.

It looks like Ray has added Cherrypicked 9 recent points to 21 on the last totalling to calculate the second place, but left his/her 21 points b/fwd as a separate contender.

I think this puts us joint 6th

You're on, I'll pick a race with a varied profile and attempt it then, possibly a race like Tirreno or the Tour de Suisse which I don't particularly like anyway (always prefer Paris-Nice and the Criterium du Dauphine which run at the same time).

Please note that for the Spring Classics Overall competition there will be NO purist competition for FSUCI ranking points.....but purist teams will be eligible for stage and overall points.

The Top 10 Overall will score 20,15,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1

Stages will be scored as usual 3,2,1 for the first three.
