This is a 100km Brevet Populaire, an entry level event for riders interested in riding longer distance.

Keep to the Roads is an introduction to the North Yorkshire Moors, there is some strenuous climbing, but also a chance for a refreshing drink at the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge. Then dropping down to Castleton and over the moors once more to reach the coast for ice-cream at Saltburn.

Audaxes are not races, there are minimum and maximum time allowances, this BP has 12-25kph speed boundaries. So take it easy, and enjoy a beautiful day out in the moors and coast of North East England.

The 10:30am start allows for arrival by train into Darlington from London or Edinburgh. Other local stations are Thornaby and Yarm. There is parking available, a local supermarket for last minute gingerbread, there are also toilets and showers at the start and finish.

Tea, coffee, quiche and cake are available to all riders at the end, included in the price. £4.00p please register online at Audax UK; paypal accepted.

This hugely popular event has a few spaces left.

We have about 100 riders doing the St Francis of Assisi Audax events this weekend. And masses of cake.

Looking forward to seeing all the riders off on Saturday morning.
