The Coast to Coast; West Cumbria to North Yorkshire is attempted by scores each year, but only a handful ever try it in one go. Why not join up to the only 1 day cycle sportive that will push you to your limit? 29th June 2013
If you missed it then this is the opportunity to tackle one of the country's great cycling challenges, the Coast to Coast. This event is perfect for all of you who don't want to spend two or three days crossing the country or those who see the logistics as an annoyance.
"Coast to coast is a box a lot of cyclists want to tick - it's obligatory for the cycling CV and provides some of the most satisfying and beautiful riding you can get. The route Open Cycling planned I don't think could be bettered for a one day traverse and I'll recommend to anybody that'll listen and has the legs to give it a go."
All you need to do is arrive at the allotted pick up point on Friday evening from where you will be transported to the camp with your bike, get a good nights sleep then focus on getting from one side of the country to the other.
Sounds too easy? Well, the route does take you over both Hardknott and Wrynose passes as a warm up to the rest of the day. So by the time you reach Whitby you will have covered 150miles over hill and down dale, crossed lakes, passed through quaint villages, and probably wondered how much further at least once!
To make it as pleasurable as possible there will be four food stops en route, with a wide variety of sustenance to ensure everyone is catered for, each manned by enthusiastic marshals at let one or two of which will be wishing they were on their bikes too!
Once you reach the finish line, all that's left to do is collapse in your tent and enjoy a well earned sleep, unless you feel the urge to sample some of Whitbys famous fish and chips.
As Sunday arrives all that is left is to jump on the bus for a ride back to your cars and head home for further celebratory cups of tea and heaps of cake.

Radar tells me their closing speed, if they are slowing and how far away. Then I decide to say a prayer. The change of light pattern is incidental.
Quite so, which is why our village 20mph zone covers the whole residential extent. Of course, enforcement is another thing..

No, that's very doubtful while proper testing would be fully destructive.
What's wrong with dropping down on to the Millenium Bridge, or the swing bridge, then the brief, but satisfying climb back up the hill? #training....
The relatives might of course disagree, but in general I'd countenance a relatively light sentence* if only we could fix it so that those who...
Id forgotten that I got a second hand set of project two's for my getting to work bike over twenty years back.
My bet is that all these tires popping off are from people with bad pressure gauges or they're simply just putting too much air in on purpose. ...
