There are two route options to choose from: the Epic 100 mile route and the Standard 70 mile route. Both routes do a complete lap of the Isle of Wight but the Standard route has a shorter New Forest section.
The event kicks off in the iconic New Forest National Park from the well equipped Brockenhurst College. Riders will set off on the first leg of the sportive which sweeps south through the flattish forest allowing legs to warm up. It passes through picturesque villages with wild animals grazing at the roadside before arriving at Lymington ferry terminal, where riders report to a timing / feedstation. Here, the timers will be stopped and riders will have plenty of time to take on some food.
Riders will board the next ferry, cross the Solent and arrive on the Isle of Wight. Individual ride times will start again for the 2nd part of the sportive around the sensational Isle of Wight. The route will head clockwise around the island and stay on quiet roads. The island section is the hilliest of the 3 sections; the route passes over the central downs on the island before returning via the southern coastal roads with their amazing coastline vistas!
Back at Yarmouth, the timers will be stopped again while riders enjoy an ice cream and wait for the next ferry back to the mainland.
The final leg takes place back in the flatter New Forest National Park. Riders will enjoy this area of outstanding natural beauty one more time before they cross the finish line at Brockenhurst College. A finishers’ medal, a quality goody bag, massages, food and showers will be waiting for all riders.
