Sustrans on the fundraising path

Avatar

Good to see Pat and Chris from Sustrans on the Bristol-Bath cycle path today as I bimbled home on the last leg of a metric century. The boys were fundraising and apparently the Bath end of Sustrans' flagship traffic free route is the best place in the country to pick up new supporters, presumably the happy experience of being able to cycle 15 miles without getting cut up by a teenager in a Saxo puts people in a good enough mood to wish more of it on the nation... plus the gate gives them somewhere to hang their signs, and also means all those fast cyclists (and me) have to slow down to collaring speed.

I asked the boys why they didn't do any fundraising in Bath city centre, and they told me that since there isn't any cycle routes, there isn't really anywhere for them to set up shop. Touché, Bath council...
