Sometimes they fight back....

Blistered thumbThis is the sum total of my efforts to mount some very fetching folding test rubber to my common or garden Mavic wheelset. Never in the history of tyre fitting, (notwithstanding my notoriously stubborn downhill rim and XC tyre combination) has a 700x23 with the supplest of casings induced this degree of carnage, let alone agricultural language. I shall return in a fortnight with a comprehensive report detailing their performance where it matters most but must now mourn my swollen thumb and the passing of a much revered tyre lever…
Shaun Audane is a freelance writer/product tester with over twenty-eight years riding experience, the last twelve (120,000 miles) spent putting bikes and kit through their paces for a variety of publications. Previous generations of his family worked at manufacturing's sharp end, thus Shaun can weld, has a sound understanding of frame building practice and a preference for steel or titanium framesets.
Citing Richard Ballantine and an Au pair as his earliest cycling influences, he is presently writing a cycling book with particular focus upon women, families and disabled audiences (Having been a registered care manager and coached children at Herne Hill Velodrome in earlier careers)

You're right--that was the other one. The relevance is that people keep complaining about how damaging the platform is, yet they carry on using it.
