Bog snorkelling? You ain't seen nothing.

Avatar

Having spent three years as the Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling champ (1998-2000), I like to think I've done my bit at getting down and dirty. But if you want to see real bog cycling, take a look at Ian Hibell's legendary crossing of the Darien Gap in Panama. Ian was tragically killed last year after being hit by a car in Greece, but his extraordinary accomplishments on the bike – the first man to cycle the length of the American continent, amongst many other achievements – will always remain.

Dave is a founding father of road.cc, having previously worked on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike magazines back in the day. He also writes about e-bikes for our sister publication ebiketips. He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.
