Yaxley shopping centre had never seen anything quite like it as over 100 cyclists descended on the car park before setting out on the first Yaxley Riders Reliability Trial.

A non-competitive event with riders solely focused on completing a course within a designated average speed (that they set themselves) saw cyclists cover one of two distances, 55 or 82 miles.

Yaxley Riders was only founded in 2010 as a social group for local riders. It offered training rides as both of Peterborough's established clubs didnt venture south of the River Nene to cater for them.

The group boasts a strong social media prescence and offers runs weekly that cater for all levels of riders.

You can find out more about the group by visiting www.yaxleyriders.co.uk

For those of you who took part here is a link to the results

Don't think of it as a competition. It's almost scientific testing of your self and your riding set up. If you took the wrong bike for the terrain or an untested bit of kit that then failed to do it's job then the results show this. Other people may learn from it. Reliability rides date back a long time to when a lot of kit we now take for granted was only in it's infancy or did not exist at all.
