II'm based at the bottom of alpe dhuez for this year so it's up out the campsite and start walking up about 8ish

We've still not sorted a campsite as we couldn't find anywhere that didn't want to charge for a full week, we're only in Bourg from Tuesday to Friday so we're hoping that if we turn up on spec someone may sort us a space out for 3 nights. If not, we are roughing it, I can see it being more fun and more comfortable than kipping in Euston and St Pancras.

    *edit*
And warmer and less windy than the platform at Sheffield.

Just be aware that if you are roughing it a lot of the area around bourg is covered by the ecrins national park and camping there is frowned upon unless it's a recognised spot.

As mentioned above le grave isn't a bad idea but again it's the traveling in on the day that you may suffer with the only other option I guess is get upto dutch corner a day or so before the stage , get friendly with the dutch and see if you can pitch a small 2 man tent next to one of the camper vans , as long as you have beer or wine they should welcome you in Big Grin

    heck yeah!

admittedly its off-peak now, but why would I pay £42 for a jersey when I can pick one up from sports-direct et al for £15 (as i did, full kit as well Laughing

I dont think £35 is too bad, but for the tiny amount of material involved in a kids shirt I am pretty sure the margins are enough to drop the price and get the youngsters hooked really early

and re. the recent forum debate about Teamsky kits, as a cycling dad I would be more than happy for my boys to wear a team sky top instead of a football shirt!

I'll be honest this is the hardest race of the year to date that I've had to pick for std wise for the 1st stage , Ithink iit's a tougher stage than people here are expecting and tbh I don't think gerrans will get a look in , I read it a lot like some of the Giros mm stages where some of those lumps just crippled the peleton Thinking

Wiggins has not exactly shone in PR terms; a fairly disreputable exit from Garmin, ill advised comments regarding Armstrong, and the on going silliness with Froome and the Tour.

Good to hear, but what criminal offence could someone who threw tacks on the road be charged with?

    I'd start with this...

"If a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way wilfully obstructs the free passage along a highway he is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine"

If anyone were to have an accident, then various levels of "assault" might be applicable, perhaps actual/grievous bodily harm, perhaps wounding with intent. Would depend how brave the CPS were and how much evidence of malice...

£35 is good for Rapha indeed, but for the little-uns it still seems a bit expensive - a £10 drop and bosh, done deal!

Interesting comment Martin. Now, I'm not in any way defending Rapha, but seeing as you mentioned football jerseys, I had a look at the Manchester United website and a kids jersey there costs £42. Is that too a 'bit expensive'?
