Contador must be sick of the sight of Sky jerseys riding away from him!
18 Nov 2012: 106.12km
24 Dec 2012: 100.45km
20 Jan 2013: 102.7km
16 Feb 2013: 105.95km
3 Apr 2013: 156.6km (South Downs Way)
Points: 5
Total km: 571.82km
Sanchez did nothing! Not in GC! No full house I'm afraid. I had Ulissi so no full house for me either!
but still did well enough I think. At least 180 I should think!
I am surprised that Porte couldn't wrap it up but Quintana did well and deserves the win.
After this though I honestly can't see Contador winning the Tour, he doesn't look strong in the mountains or against the clock any more and really needs to improve quite quickly. Wonder where all of that ability went...
1245715 on stage. 1234 GC. Plus points for Didier and Txurruka. Better last stage than I thought! Been a good race with something a bit unexpected at the end! Now there's less doping the natural advantages of the Columbians are beginning to show! Can't beat training at altitude when you are young and are genetically predisposed towards using oxygen efficiently! I really thought Porte had it in the bag but the TT suited the climbers with only Martin doing really well!
Sanchez was over 3 minutes down. Not sure of the place.
Hmm, I always thought that the road speed limit was the road speed limit, and applied to everyone using the road. I don't see why you should need a speedometer to have a speed limit applied to you. The law says the limit is X, and you have to stay under X. If you go above X, you cop the penalty. It is up to the individual to figure out if they are over X or not, and if they get it wrong, they pay the penalty. If I snap the needle off the speedo in my car I am not going to try and get off the 60mph in a 20mph zone charges because I didn't know how fast I was going...
Useful to know it doesn't apply to bikes, but I will still follow it unless the circumstances are exceptional.
If you do win we will share it as thats my team as well
Where did Sanchez finish ? Only need him to score to get a full house again.
According to list above i've got 2,4,5,7,8,9,10 + txurruka and Sanchez.
Should have kept Betancurt! Just swap Contador for Martin! Sanchez nowhere!
1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 15
11 Talansky
12 Costa
13 Monfort
14 Velits
15 Castroviejo
16 Kangert
17 Herrada
18 Losada
19 Danielson
20 Poels
Having known NOTHING and being on the road all week, I got into bed last night and powered up my tablet, picked a team for today having 10 transfers, I could switch the whole lot. I trusted the "popular" riders and ended up with
Carlos Alberto Betancurt
Richie Porte
Alberto Contador
Nairo Quintana
Simon Spilak
Sergio Luis Henao
Samuel Sanchez
Amets Txurruka
Pieter Weening
Got 7 out of the top 10 on the stage and 1-7 on GC
PLEASE give me a stage win
Henao 7th! 3/ 4th overall?. Glad I kept Quintana and Henao!
Henao 3rd!
Most of my transfers were poor, was right to drop Contador but should have kept Peraud, also should have brought in Intxausti/Spilak rather than Malori/Castroviejo who were disappointing.
Oh, well, cracking race right to the finish.
Final top 10 :-
1. Martin (Omega) 35:05
2. Quintana (Movistar) a 17
3. Intxausti (Movistar) a 32
4. Porte (Sky) a 40
5. Spilak (Katusha) a 48
6. Peraud (Ag2r) a 51
7. Henao (Sky) a 57
8. Betancur (Ag2r) a 1:05
9. Weening (Orica) a 1:06
10. Contador (Saxo) a 1:07
Henao doing well! He can TT!
Quintana wins the race, 2nd in TT!
Got
Martin
Castroviejo
Quintana
Henao
Porte
Spilak
Ulissi
Didier
Txurruka
Swapped Contador and Betancurt for Martin and Castroviejo, who hasn't done great!
Quintana going to win!
I wouldn't do it. I use my eyes of course, but my ears as well to know what is happening around me. In winter I rug up and often have my ears covered. I dislike it. Personal preference of course. If someone I was riding with was listening to music instead of my amazingly gripping and interesting stories I would send them to the front so that they at least shield me from the wind. If they weren't going to do that, I would drop them and ride on my own - they are of no use to me...
Echoing the comments of the others, learn to ride in a bunch first. I have done 5 IMs, plus lots of half IMs and I don't know how many sprint and olympic distance races. That is, a lot more triathlons than a lot of people who call themselves triathletes. I call myself a cyclist first though, and last year I deliberately stopped bike training with my tri club simply because although a lot of them are strong on the bike they almost universally had terrible skills. All over the road, unable to hold a wheel, surging and overlapping the whole time, oblivious to what was going on around them and generally presenting a danger to everyone in the bunch and everyone else on the road. Now I only ride with cyclists or the triathletes who know how to ride safely in a bunch.
Best way to earn to ride in a bunch is also as the others said, join a cycling club, go on the bunch rides. You will start of being better at TTs and terrible at crits, because you won't be used to the accelerations. That changes though, find the appropriate grade and when you are ready, get out and race them all! I look forward to seeing you there.
Quintana!!!
