Thought it might be fun to go for breakaway points - its good when it works! (no Jacques-Maynes tho, hmm...) My season's record for the premium comps is ToC 24th, TdS 1st, TdP 108th, Eneco 16th, so I'm due a comedown...

Firstly: take it to a good local bike shop that you trust. better to spend some money getting them to free it than wreck the frame...

if you're determined to do it yourself there's lots of advice here:

    www.sheldonbrown.com/stuck-seatposts.html

but not sure anything is directly relevant to your situation

i'd suggest removing the bottom bracket and pouring penetrating oil down the seat tube as a first resort, that might free up the clamp mechanism and you can't really break anything. also aluminium expands and contracts with heat/cooling, carbon is very stable. so it might be worth cooling the clamp area to see if you can make it contract away from the carbon, freeing it up. the easiest cooling trick is a bucket of ice (or ice and salt which will be colder); blasting it with co2 cannisters or using dry ice will give a greater cooling effect but it's a bit more risky.

There's a little bit of an attempt to start a backlash against Wiggins amongst the non cycling press at present. I read in the Mail Online last week and it suggested that Wiggins had grown a rockstar head and was too busy living it up to shoulder his team responsibilities and take part in the Vuelta; when of course it was never on his calendar anyway.
Just mischief making masquerading as news - hoping to get a defensive response from Wiggins himself and present that as real news.

I imagine Wiggins will want to keep his head down hoping they'll forget about him until July 2013...

  • Five KSIs in three weeks in Kent raise serious safety concerns1 year 49 weeks agoWhilst dual carriageways are

Whilst dual carriageways are statistically safer for cyclists, there's no denying that they are unpleasant, with the draught and noise from cars and lorries passing.

I would presume that anyone choosing to cycle on a trunk road like the A2 is both confident and experienced so it is very worrying that drivers weren't able to avoid hitting them. I wonder what these drivers were paying attention to? It certainly can't have been the road.

Also, one has to question the morals of the lowlife who know they have collided with another human being and then drive off to selfishly protect their driving licence. The penalty for such an offence really should be a massive deterrent.
