    1, 2, 10, 12, 18 & 19.

Happy that it was a GC win though fantasy-wise as I'd already starting setting my team out for tomorrow's flat stage and had pretty much ignored the KoM race or breakaway riders.

EDIT: Froome 5 minutes down in 32nd and now 9'40 down in the GC, if he loses another 2 minutes he could drop down to 5th overall behind Moreno.

  • What's wrong with me?1 year 32 weeks agoOh, boy - do I ever identify

Oh, boy - do I ever identify with this. Did Marmotte earlier this year - one of the ultimate hillfests. At the end is the fearsome Alpe d'Huez. I could have copped out at that point - I'd already climbed three whoppers. But no - I forced myself to climb it. Very, very slowly. The feeling of turning a hairpin and being faced with yet another stretch of 11-12% was really hard to deal with physically and mentally, as I was so knackered. Something, something just keeps you going. It's just adrenalin and the sense that you haven't achieved your goal unless you've done it. I hated the experience, but I love the fact that I've done it now!

Totally agree with Bhachgen, if there's going to be a massive increase in cycling in London then there's going to be a massive decrease in motorised traffic. Anybody who commutes during rush hour will have already noticed this beginning to happen. The key to safer cycling is more cyclists on the road (critical mass and all that etc).

Quintana has sat up now so he won't be featuring at the end, Valverde now being helped by Intxausti. Potential for Valverde to move up to second overall and Rodriguez might not get many finish line points as there's a multitude of breaks scattered across the gaps. No idea who is where other than that Henao is up near the front somewhere and so is Mollema... probably.

On a serious note, I'm not sure how I feel about Contador being helped to the win by members of other teams... I know they're friends/ex-teammates and surely if the gap is large enough Tiralongo will take the win (assuming he can keep up on the final climb) but it doesn't seem fair for him to be getting help from other teams.

Where are they meant to go? SkyCycle is the next logical step, because you can’t realistically build more cycle lanes on ground level.

I agree with everyone who says this is bollocks.

And to the chap who thinks bike lanes are slow - visit the Netherlands where journeys by bicycle are demonstrably safe and fast.

But surely causing death by careless or dangerous driving should result in a life ban. Given the damage they have already caused, there is no reason to let them drive again.

It looks as though he was convicted of causing death by driving (while) uninsured, which is a different offence and "does not require proof of any fault in the standard of driving."

On the sentence, it looks from that CPS page as though:
    - this carries the lightest sentence of any causing death while driving offence
    - he wasn't disqualified, he was uninsured, which is considered less serious (so presumably means the judge is unable to give the maximum sentence)
    - he claimed that he genuinely believed he was insured, which if the court believed is a mitigating factor which would cut the sentence further.

As the family said, looks like the judge's hands were pretty much tied. Perhaps the question is why the CPS didn't think they could make a Causing Death by Dangerous Driving charge stick. One might think that hitting a cyclist was pretty good evidence that he was driving dangerously.

Froome really is completely shot isn't he?

EDIT: Contador now 40 seconds up and in virtual red.

EDIT: 26km to go, gap up to 1:10. Contador looks like he might riding into the lead tonight. Not entirely happy about it to be honest but you've got to hand it to him, he's really gone after this rather than riding defensively. Froome in the main peloton now 2:42 down.
