I can't beleive what I am seeing, (or indeed reading in the comments above).

    £45 ?

Are they having a laugh ?

For Pete's sake, firms like Dickies work wear do Hi-viz vests (and boy oh boy, are they visible) for £8.

How on earth can what is shown above be even contemplated for £45, and how on earth can it be rated as 8/10 in the value for money stakes ?

Aimed at the style and saftey concious cyclist ?

Do you really want to like a player on the school net-ball team ?

Can we have reviews of proper cycling gear please, not band-wagon tat ?

I think the first 1 is pretty "bad, and not in a Michael Jackson way" - David Millar. Hate how the front wheel makes the C and the bike looks pretty awkward. If you made a drop bar you'd have an alternative C which I think would look better. The 2nd one is nicer but why shoot the chainring from the back?

Also the caption could read... "Sundays were made for cyclists; so get the f**k off the road, shouldn't you be in church anyway? Pr!ck!". Then you could have a hand giving the finger but glossed over in carbon fibre effect. Thinking

  • Halfords!1 year 21 weeks agoI didn't mean to come across

I didn't mean to come across as flippant about it. I love my job as you can clearly tell and can also assure you that if you'd have bought the bike in my store, you would never have had an issue. There are plenty of stores who have great people who like myself, ensure that everything is set up perfectly i.e. carbon paste where needed, all bolts set to manufacturer torque settings, fresh grease on all bearings and copper grease on threads etc and the company has an excellent warranty process which ensures that any mechanical issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. It's our sole aim to make sure that you as a customer, enjoy your purchase and to deal with problems like this effectively and efficiently when they do occur..

I'm all for supporting independent stores too and I use my local IBD as well as my own store as the guys are like minded people who are extremely passionate about what they do. Regarding the new bearings that your IBD suggested, they were right in saying that it probably wouldn't have solved the issue. There are only 2 things that will keep your bb30 running quietly and that's lots of grease and keeping it free of grit. Same goes for any bike with bb30. Grease is far cheaper than new cranks and bearings though so speaking from a mechanics point of view, to me it would have made more sense to try that first.

Have the Police made any progress?
This sort of thing is horrific at any time of the year but at Christmas it is particularly horrific.
Just to be clear I am not saying it does not happen I am just interested in the statistics. I have noticed that some of these police commissioners are targeting 'public concern' about cyclists on pavements. Although a few days ago I was confronted by two cyclists one on the pavement and one on a cyclepath next to him I cannot say I have ever been inconvenienced by a cyclist on a pavement but seem to be constantly be annoyed and even hit by cars driving and parking on pavements. My commissioner has not replied to any of my emails; but a statistic would be useful if he decides to target those pesky, manevolent, murdering cyclists (allegedly)

It's just a personal choice. Though I don't see any reasonable reason not to wear one. I think wearing a helmet looks better too, what else would you match to your oakleys to otherwise?!

More seriously, it might not save you in a collision with a car (but hey, the very fact that it *might* in some cases help should be persuasive enough) but it sure will save you some nasty road rash on you face if you go down sideways. But yeah it's down to you to decide

Do you know how many people have been killed by motorists driving on pavements, or after walking in the road because of parking on pavements? I have read on this site that 3 people in 10 years have been killed by cyclists riding on pavements...
