Avoiding Wiggins on purpose as I'm not sure how he's going to do and I reckon Larsson/Porte are a safer bet. Shame Zabriski isn't riding, he was in my original team.

Still might change it a little and ditch Bobridge/Oliveira for Rabon/Bodnar.

I dunno, I can easily believe it. I know that anything you see on the web is only a one-eyed snapshot and not every cyclist in NY is a courier type, but there do seem to be a lot of people riding like idiots there. Just as in London I'm sure there are a good number of pedestrians getting taken out by bikes every year.

Folding bikes are very popular in Taiwan at the moment.

I've noticed a marked increase in Kaohsiung, probably as a result of the opening of the new MRT system (the tube) a coupe of years ago. The bikes range from the very cheap an cheerful to some fabulous looking full carbon jobs.

Slightly surprised they're buying bikes from Britain, although there are many wealthy residents who like to spend their cash on high value, foreign goods.

Yes someone you could afford yesterday, may suddenly sneak above your budget range if the value goes up.

On the other hand your team budget can also go up - I like the fact that it adds another dimension to the game, of sometimes buying low and selling high.

How are the values set... Dave and his mates sit around at Christmas, get extremely drunk and argue the values, and if they can't agree then they have mini-pump duels. Is there any other way to explain why Tyler Farrar and Andre Greipel had higher values than Mark Cavendish ?

Pray they never get a job at Top Trumps or the Swiss Navy Coast Guard's rubber dinghy will be taking out your nuclear aircraft carrier.

On the other hand I am sometimes remarkably surprised at how prescient they are, when riders apparently spring from nowhere and you think it will be a good DS buy, only to find they have been valued at 12 or 14 points. Yet it also leaves room for some bargain buys.

    Andre Greipel though... Confused

It annoys me so much when you get Mr Irratic Car in a very busy location attempting with every sinew and muscle to squeeze in front of you on a bike only to see them brake harshly in front and stop in a queue which was totally visible way back. When safe to do so you inch slowly past said vehicles and get abuse thrown at you! It's about time everyone looked in the mirror before getting in their car and taking a chill pill and looked forward to an enjoyable drive to their location instead of the stoneage attitude of working out how many people they can upset on their way....

The reason I ask the question -see above- (anyone got an answer?)

If the answer is Yes, then this thread is irrelevant; there is no bias in favour of motorists (but perhaps a case to suggest there should be, if so; it has not been made in this article).

If the answer is No; then this should be challenged. This is discrimination favouring the offenders involved in motor related crime and an injustice to the general public, specificaly those that do not drive a motor vehicle.

  • Dublin and London make Copenhagenize list of Top 20 Most Bicycle-Friendly Cities2 years 2 weeks agoHmm… but there are plenty of

Hmm… but there are plenty of cyclists in Holland that don't hang about I've seen rush hour in a Dutch city and there were lots of people who were definitely riding as fast as they could - I didn't have to look too hard to spot some in Lycra either. There were also streets in Rotterdam that didn't have segregated cycle lanes so the locals on their bikes were also out there mixing it with the motorised traffic. Haven't Dutch and German businesses for years been required to provide showers, changing facilites, and cycle parking for their cycle commuting employees? Someone must surely be using these?

As for London aren't Boris bikes for simply hopping on and off of? They are certainly very visible in Central London these days and seem to have plenty of takers too with many Londoners, especially rail commuters, seemingly treating them as another branch of the public transport system.

It seems a bit rum to me for a city like London to have seen a simply massive growth in the number of people riding bikes on its streets and then for campaigners to complain that all these new people on bikes are the wrong sorts of cyclist and are part of the problem not the solution.
