Wow - less is more; these are expensive. I'll stick to Endura at half the price.

These are a "Top of the Range" offering. Prendas sell 2 pairs of Italian made mitts for £10 if these are too expensive.

I've never had an aluminium bike that was so harsh I couldn't ride it all day long, or was so heavy it was a significant factor in my success, or lack thereof, in races. Nor have I ever spent as much as this on any bike, regardless of frame material. But I have crashed an aluminium bike and had to dispose of the frame, because it bent where a titanium one probably wouldn't have, and could not be cold set back into alignment like a steel one. Also, no amount of money can prevent the fatigue limit problem of aluminium alloys. Most people would probably get bored with riding the same bike long before that is a factor but, for me, 3300 quid is too much for an inherently disposable bike.

The UCI has said that only applications from potential host cities outside Europe will be accepted

How about making that outside mainland Europe and considering a world championship in Britain for 2015? It has been 30 years since Goodwood, and the number of top-level riders, of both sexes, from or based in these islands is much higher now than it was in the early 80s. And I don't think Scotland or Wales have ever hosted a world championships. The British Cycling federation, if nothing else, has held a tough line against dopers, in contrast with, say, Spain. But I guess hosting the 2012 Olympics has ruled out Britain for a lot of other sporting opportunities, even in sports such as cycling where the Olympics are not the ultimate prize.

I agree about the general level of traffic not being the issue - the issue on the A9 is the behaviour of certain groups (yes Audi drivers - I'm looking at you) when they reach a dualled stretch. The roar of the engines as cars are hurled to over 100 mph to overtake as much as possible in the space is quite deafening.

I recently had cause to travel the whole length of the road from Inverness south at around 60mph (my wee Almera couldn't really cope with 3 bikes on the rack) - and you'd have thought I was stealing days from these people's lives.

Instead of upgrading, a concerted campaign by the police against the speeding and dangerous driving on this route is long overdue.

It's just me then. Perhaps a transfer went wrong and the credits were deducted twice?

  • Full Roster for Paris Roubaix?   2 years 11 weeks ago

You need 9 riders in the team to score points, but they don't have to ride the stage. So you can select a GC guy that doesn't participate in Paris-Roubaix.

Of course, he won't score any points for you that way, so it's your choice whether that is worth it.

  • Fantasy Cycling Chat   2 years 11 weeks ago

I like the new stats window that appears when you hover the mouse over a rider. Good idea!

Should make it quicker and easier to choose transfers.

Zactly - thought the cameras were a brilliant addition, bringing to life the tactics that everyone knows go on behind the scenes. It was a bit like Wacky Races at times - brilliant.

I was personally disappointed that Cancellara didn't get away at the very end when he turned it on again - he showed not only incredible strength but character and real style in the way he rode. But fair play to a) Chavanel, for a great ride out front before Canc got there and for playing it very well tactically after that b) Gilbert, for just being an incredibly exciting, competitive racer and c) Boonen, for giving it one last attempt at the death and keeping up the suspense until the line. All made for a cracking race to watch.

    Can't wait for Roubaix now...

  • Credits dwindling fast   2 years 11 weeks ago

your credits wouldn't have changed that much, so it sounds like you have a specific problem which i'll investigate.

I wonder how those cameras will affect relations between Directors Sportif.

  • Tour of Flanders: No double for Cancellara as Nuyens pips him on the line   2 years 11 weeks ago

Fabian rode like a champ. Constant pushes, snapping elastics everything. It was such a shame he didn't win. Also, Geraint Thomas has been brilliant this year. Everywhere you look, he is there, working like a trojan.

  • Updated: Campaign of disruption mooted in A9 crossing dispute   2 years 11 weeks ago

The A 9 does not need to be dual carriageway for the amount of traffic using it, and by observation since the start of 2011 the amount of motor traffic on the road has noticeably reduced.

I've been driving around 800 miles every other weekend - a very sad domestic issue - and roads like the A1 which used to be relatively active on a sunny Sunday afternoon are almost deserted. Sunday traffic queues on the Edinburgh by-pass are shorter or almost non-existent.

Now what would be an improvement, is the delivery of better driver 'behaviour' especially in the speed/observation area.

At Crubenmore, there will need to be a number of culverts to feed water from the hills in to the Truim. THese have to be substantially 'oversized' to deal with meltwater surges and the rocks brought down with this. Elsewhere, probably when roads were designed and built by Highland Council (local) engineers, the huge culverts double as road crossing points to all who want a less hazardous road crossing. True in full spate the paths here will be underwater but when this happens very few people will be wanting to cross the road and very few people will be drivind - several crossings like this on A95

  • Lube!   2 years 11 weeks ago

I like Finish Line Wax Ceramic (or is it Ceramic Wax? yes, I believe it is). Seems to last well, quiets things down nicely and doesn't need to be applied as often as dry lube. But in the winter I'll go for something gloopier.

  • Tour Of Flanders   2 years 11 weeks ago

Well, he's been getting decent points due to being in the top 20. But he's so expensive! Even more so than Cancellara for the Ronde.

Would it be unreasonable to suggest that Philippe Gilbert has been a bit of a let down this classics campaign? Interesting to see that he is currently not on the start list for PR, which saves me the decision about whether to drop him.
