You see all sorts. Bloke a couple of years ago riding no-handed, eating what looked like a Chinese take-away from a foil tray. Decent handling skills - just made me think "t***" though....

On the flip side recently complained to TfL about a driver riding aggressively behind a slow moving cyclist. When I (politely) had a word with him as I was getting off he said "She should have been putting more effort in".

    There's idiots everywhere....

I'm pretty confident that these frames didn't just snap through normal use. No frame would just fold in two no matter what it was made of. If someone told me their frame snapped, I would just assume there had been previous crashes on it that might make their story less interesting to hear.

Ive done something similar on a Motorbike and bought a Robens Small Dreamer. Plenty of alternative options.

A tunnel tent if rpetty much a bivi tent with poles and a few more basic features including storage space for drying clothes and keeping stuff inside and secure.

The Robens had been advertised as a cycle touring tent. Really good.

Feel the fear and do it anyway?

No. You are on the road with other people, and you have a duty of care to them, and that also means to car drivers and their passengers, and anyone they hit while swerving to avoid you.

Strava is just mediating what roads are in play?

No roads are normally "in play". Only race if the road has been closed for you.

Might have to plump for a climber or two then. Shame as the day after is flat I think so it'll be GC guys in and then out again straight away.

"we could improve the range and depth of cyclists in this country. It needs to be normalised ... I've just got no idea how to do that."

It increasingly seems to me that it has to be creating more proper* segregated cycle paths alongside main roads. Most people don't like the idea of mixing it with motor traffic (regardless of how safe cycling actually is). Build it and they will ride I reckon.

*proper as in not the usual crap we get in the UK - pavements with a bit of paint that give way to every side road, etc. And they would be suitable to ride your Cannondale on as well.

  • Strava countersues family of cyclist killed trying to get KOM title back1 year 13 weeks agohow can strava be responsible

how can strava be responsible for a track (segment) they did not create?
strava creates a leader list.. effectively a chalk board, for the users to write their times in.... strava literally provides nothing, if we wanted to we could write our lap times on a brick wall each day and come back to check if someone was quicker. who is responsible then!?
considering a track/segment is an open strtch of road, that is in no way closed off for a race (as it would be for a martathon, for example), strava are not responsible for that either!
completely ridiculous to blame someone else.
its like saying, someone swan the english channel, and i got it into my head to beat them, so without any preparation i ran into the sea fully clothed and tried to swim it. i drowned,,,,, and its their fault because i tried to compete with them!!!

Er.. Nope, don't get that one.

It will offer more protection than no helmet, and there is no evidence that it will offer less, or limited protection than a brand new one.

It's all scare mongering and speculation until there's some actual proof, to be quite honest.

    Agreed.

May i also add that i tried an S3 on yesterday as i was looking at the Spech amnesty thing and i found that my '98 Met was for more comfortable, thicker and it seems stronger. I had a little knock the other week with my lid on and it took all impact well and theres not damage at all. I wont be swapping soon..
