Agree! The exposure mount is really secure and would be a great platform for a camera mount.

Why should riders from that era be trusted when they say they've never doped? (Jens included). They deny ever having witnessed or suspected anybody on their team using PEDS when we know that's BS.

Oh and Horner has somewhat been implicated as Rider 15.

I'm still wearing mitts, I really don't like fullfinger gloves until its really really cold.

I also have long fingers and often find gloves uncomfortable.

The best cool-weather gloves i've found are a real cheap option - the Planet X Thinny. £5, great soft gloves.

    http://planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CLPXTHIGL/planet_x_thinny_glove

I would personally not recommend their own-brand £5 winter cycling glove, much too sweaty - except if you're using it to drive not cycle! I wore mine when i had to drive to work two winters ago.

  • Vuelta Stage 10: Chris Horner rides away from rivals and back into race lead1 year 8 weeks agoThere seems to be a few too

There seems to be a few too many accusations going on here. I'm not saying Horner isn't a doper or isn't doping in this years Vuelta, but without solid proof it's hard to truly accuse someone of cheating, whether or not they've done it in the past.

I'm 25 and can do a solid TT of around 20 - 21 minutes but every week I get smashed by a 64 year old who's been cycling since he was 12. I'm not entirely surprised by Horner's performances based on the fact I'm mullered by a guy 40 years older than me every week...

  • Permanently juiced up?1 year 8 weeks agoWhilst I find it very hard to

Whilst I find it very hard to believe that Horner has never doped, given the professional company he kept and the era in which he has ridden, he would be *really* stupid to be doping now.

Mind you, Di Luca and Santambrogio were still stupid enough earlier this year, so who knows?

And while the daily Froomqusition at the Tour was a bit much, we've a right to be sceptical about any rider. It may be 'sins of the father' (though there are plenty of 'father' era pros still racing) and I do believe we're entering a new era of at least reduced doping (nobody can argue that the culture of the peloton is changing) but for now my default position is one of assuming innocence but never discounting the possibility of guilt.

Incidentally, is there a feeling that in Spain it's easier to get away with doping than, say, France? *Coughs* 'famous football team' *coughs*

I'm fairly sure that, that information is not recorded. the Hansard site linked above does index all MP's actions, but if they just sat there and said nothing then they will not get recorded.

Of course you can write to your MP and ask them.

  • Cornering on descents1 year 8 weeks agoIt might sound unrelated, but

It might sound unrelated, but a nice soft muddy field and a MTB could be a good place to gain cornering confidence. Find a tight bend somewhere and keep taking it at higher and higher speeds and embrace falling off. You'll learn to recognise the point at which the bike starts to go, and probably be surprised at how fast you can get round.

Transferring those skills to the road might not be particularly easy but it'll give you confidence which is half the battle.

And the guys saying lean the bike not the body are spot on. Your body will take on some of the lean of the bike which is good for traction but by keeping your head upright you'll maintain your centre of gravity above the BB and also, crucially, feel like you're not leaning too much which will keep your mind on where you're going.

Take a look at this image:

    http://www.roadcycling.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/field...

All of the riders' bikes are leaned right over, their bodies less so and their heads are almost all upright (or thereabouts).

    Good luck!

  • National federations urge UCI and McQuaid to let CAS decide on nomination validity1 year 8 weeks agoI think you've been

I think you've been misinformed Simon. These Federations do not want a CAS judgement on the proposed constitutional change, they want a judgement on the Article 51.1 phrase "the Federation of the Candidate" and Pat's insistence that this means ANY of the Federations of the Candidate. If Pat's (and the UCI's) reading of the phrase is accepted, he currently has two valid nominatons, and no constitutional amendment is needed for him to stand.

  • Permanently juiced up?1 year 8 weeks agoI have read interviews with

I have read interviews with Chris Horner. He is adamant that he has never doped and he he can be up there but has rarely had the opportunity to prove himself. I don't recall him being linked to any doping scandals.

Horner may feel that his chances lie in grabbing the jersey and hanging onto it while others e.g. Nibali do not want to have to defend it this early. He said said he followed the numbers on his SRM while the rest were watching each other (quotes here ) . I think Rodriguez is biding his time, which worked for him at the Tour - he still had good legs at Semnoz.

Perhaps enforced rest and this buildup works better for Horner than 'racing as training', just as Sky say it works for Wiggins (though whatever Henao and Uran did obviously hasn't worked as they lost more time yesterday).

That's not to say questions shouldn't be asked. On ITV last night Gary asked Roger Hammond whether he should be subject to the same scrutiny as Froomey & co in the Tour. Absolutely, he said. There are still plenty of days to go yet.

From the title of this thread I thought it may be about Valverde.... Thinking

Yes - Cookson should withdraw from the race now. This would force another round of nominations, McQuaid can go cap-in-hand trying to get one (from Kuala Lumpur or wherever), and if he does they can have a fair election.

That way, if - hopefully when - Cookson wins, he can say he won fair and square. If he wins by default, much as it pains me to say it, Pat might have a a bit of support from people who feel he's been hard done by.

(Though personally I think he's failed to get a nomination, so he's not in the race).
