England or Scotland, i'm just glad that the UK was chosen for the Grand Départ. I'm sure the other contenders, Florence, Barcelona and Lille are gutted

I've already told my wife that I'll be booking a day off work and my kids may skip school. It will be an "educational" trip, of course.

Thank you Mr Stanley, you were a genius.

Most likely because there are no races coming up and we are still working on the 2013 game engine??

The same thought occurred to me, but even then many people will overestimate their ability and think "it won't happen to me". I wonder whether Brad Wiggins being knocked off had any lasting effect on anyone's driving.
Hands-free should be illegal. Same goes for sat-navs that attach to the windscreen. Regarding the sentence, what is 'just'? I don't know but if you want change then support campaign groups like the CTC and RoadPeace.

Nice of him to claim the success of the Olympics... I think there might be some others ahead of the UCI in the credits there.

Sadly, too many read this, and attack the individual, rather than stop to think about the human designed environment.
The environment didn't tint the moron's windows so that he couldn't even see his mirror and therefore had to open his door.
Something about agreeing to support each other against attack from England.
We sent them sheep and they gave us wine.....something like that, remembering, its been many years since I did history aged 12
Had this on pre-order and got it in October when the forst batch arrived. Mine has the 2012 build i.e. Tiagra chainset not FSA,Kenda tyres etc but its a really confortable ride for a winter bike. I got a smaller frame than normal and changed the bars from 44cm to 42 cm.
I discounted this as an all-rounder due to the comparative length of the top-tube.
Dropping a size will shorten the TT, but you'll end up with a more dropped front end, so you'd better be flexible otherwise your back will be complaining.
£35 - money>sense
On one of our club members being doored, the driver just laughed and said it was not his fault, our quick thinking secretary told the grounded lad to stay down while an ambulance was called knowing the police have a duty to attend. The officer wiped the smile off the drivers face with the option a being charged or taking the drivers awareness course. Our member was injured but not too seriously.
Can pedestrians also be advised to stop wearing their headphones on shared paths, as I ring my bell; but their music stops them hearing it.
It didn't involve bicycles and the seaside did it ?
The idea of a bunch of random strangers called Jury deciding about other peoples' lives is utterly ridiculous.
Nothing changes, the same old arrogance.
they reckon day 1 (July 5th) is going to be Leeds to Scarborough
Now I'm even more pee'd off, because on July 5th 1295, The Scottish and France made some sort of pack against England.......
"people drive inattentively themselves and hate cyclists because they perceive them to add a few seconds to their journeys"
This is one of the greatest myths of motoring.
I know from much experience as a driver that having to pass a cyclist almost always makes precisely zero difference to the overall journey time, whether on urban or rural roads.
I'm quite condifent that the "they hold me up" argument is a crude defence mechanism that a selfish mind comes up with to mask the fact that it feels under threat from fear: http://buonoestente.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/why-motorists-hate-cyclists/
"They hold me up" is a fallacy of course, and IMO is nothing more than the mark of a coward who fears responsibility for their own actions.
I was watching BBC Look Leeds this evening and they reckon day 1 (July 5th) is going to be Leeds to Scarborough and day 2 (July 6th) is going to be York to Sheffield.
If this is true (which it may not be) that will mean no prologue and a TDF finish twelve miles up the road from me.
Bring it on !
Unfortunately it will take someone really famous to be killed/nearly killed for the general public to really take note. This is a real travesty!
I doubt it. The favourite for SPOTY went over the bonnet of an idiot who didn't look properly and there was some encouraging rhetoric but as is always the case, nothing changes. Even then columnists were saying it was a shame that it was Wiggins and not one of those annoying Lycra louts.
Enough people drive inattentively themselves and hate cyclists because they add a few seconds to their journeys for there to be a general attitude that any cyclist who is injured or killed had it coming to some extent.
Great news - although I've been up in Scotland this week and the press seemed fairly confident of the tour going to Edinburgh - Sorry guys! please come down and enjoy some Yorkshire hospitality though.
Shamefully inadequate justice
Disgusting. Utterly disgusting, both this and the car-door killer. They just don't give a fuck, do they?
Sarah, I am so sorry that you had to be a witness. I was not intending on putting blame on anyone, especially not Mary. I apologise if my clumsiness of phrase caused offence.
On what possible basis could this guy be acquitted? There were witnesses plus CCTV from the bus and he's impaired his vision by darkening his windows. Open and shut (no pun intended), surely? An absolute disgrace.
