Something along the lines of see even when Lampre stick the head in Cav still wins the stage.
it's just such a bad example head butt + blocking that there's not even to discuss. the ban is deserved. it's not a sport move.
I wonder if it's was a lampre guy who had head butted renshaw or Cavendish what you would have said ?
Yup.
Hear this, fanboy. It's not always about Cav...
Dean should face some sanction for his action he is not innocent or blameless.
Renshaw was out of order for the move on Farrar it was blatantly deliberate and unsporting. It also gives the Cav Bashers something else to harp on about not that they need much to get them droning on. Disqualifying Renshaw was harsh and there is no appeal either apparently.
Harsh, but fair. The headbutting was one thing, but deliberately blocking Farrar looks like the final straw.
The Authorities (tm) don't have any cause or reason to nobble Cav, but Cav and his team seem more than capable of nobbling themselves and then whining like red-haired stepchildren afterwards.
Don't know how tight your budget is but these Shimano R540 pedals are good with decent bearings which I used through a harsh British winter with no problems.

Shoes worth a trawl around Wiggle Chain Reaction Evans etc see whos got what on offer and what styles you like. If you go with the R540 pedals above you need the shoes to be Shimano Spd SL compatible.
I would avoid Ebay purely on the basis that you might need to return them.
As a cyclist and a personal injury lawyer I'd say this man will have no problems with a civil claim. How much it deters the driver I can't say.
Yep, in a rear end shunt the person at the back is at fault. Maybe the cops don't know this Jon. I hope the guy with the smashed arm pursues a civil case against the driver. I think he'd have a good chance. If he won a case the driver's insurance costs would also skyrocket and hitting someone in the pocket is often the best way for them to learn.
So how did it go Simon? Hope you didn't have renshaw! Does he have all his points wiped for earlier stages?
I'd tend to agree: it's the combination of the two things that seems to have got the commissaire's back up. The headbutting we've seen in the sprint before (and seen go unpunished too) but Renshaw's was pretty blatant and he'd lost the lead to Dean, even if the big Kiwi was muscling in a bit. But the blocking of Farrar was obviously deliberate and could have been very dangerous, that's easily the worst of the two misdemeanours so it's not fair to say that Dean should go to for his part in it all; he wasn't involved in that bit.
And should he go? hm, not sure. The worst we've seen in the 13 or so years since someone last got booted out? I doubt it. He's done himself no favours though.
Oof, seems harsh
I came a cropper when someone t-boned me a couple of years back, when he pulled out of a side road into me. He wrecked my pannier, cracked my frame, damaged my winter leggings and tore my waterproof - luckily I got away with only a little grazing. He gave me his "address" and I took his reg number.
Called my insurance company to claim to find I'd not "named" the bike on my policy so they wouldn't pay out for a new one or chase costs from him. Decided instead to pursue him directly through the police. Called them to register the RTA but was dismissed by the call handler because "as the driver gave you his details voluntarily so we don't need to know about it". Of course letters accompanied by bills for my replacement gear went unanswered
Just watched it again on itv and to be fair Renshaw deserved what he got, Dean was actually a shoulder ahead of renshaw who then headbutted dean three times from behind. Then Renshaw veered violently off course to block off Tyler Farrar. No blame at all attributed to Cav but Renshaw was pretty dirty in that sprint in my opinion.
they should also ban dean as he was trying to force renshaw off his line which resulted in the head butting. good to see the tour authorities remaining impartial again
Yes, yet again if Cavendish doesn't win green fingers will be pointed towards conspiracy theories.
It was a bit unfair and should have been penalised but I've seen plenty worse from sprinters. Renshaw and Dean both knew what they were doing.
Anyway, if the organisers are concerned about crashes they might put their money where their mouth is when they choose the tour route.
Some would say a behind the scenes way to stop Cavendish winning...
Mark Renshaw has been kicked out of the tour for his head-butting.
Thanks for the help haven't had a chance to sort it until today, bent the spring out and loosened the fore/aft bolts slightly...working a treat now.
Jon - if I have another disaster on Sunday, I may stay and do it with you!
but enough of that - my coach says I must THINK POSITIVE
I will be doing it...but on the wednesday rest day so not the etape really! I cant afford the entry fee so Im doing it with my girlfriend acting as a sporadic support vehicle every 30-40km or so...also plan to descend the other side through la mongie and ride up the tourmalet from that side too.
Ilton
It's ok all of BCs budget is going to be removed next year or sooner anyway, so don't worry about it
you have that round the wrong way
helmets are only effective at low speeds
may as well have on for the ascent where it will work and take it off for the descent where it won't
Interesting, but these are criminal penalties. The fag butt dropper cannot make a civil claim, whereas the cyclist could (presumably) sue the car driver for damages which are based on things including loss of mobility and job etc. I vote that the cyclist sues the driver - he could use BlameDirect or whatever they are called, or the CTC's solicitors.
also, I heard that there's more than 10,000 riders this year. so slightly harder to pick out fellow Brits in the crowd...
Cheers lads. Yes, the weather forecast doesn’t look to good. Unless you like riding up huge mountains in 40 degrees or more. Better than the rain and snow that hit the Tourmalet a few years ago though, I suppose…
I’ll be in a patriotic jersey of white emblazoned with the red cross of St George, but doing my bit for entente with the wording that says ‘Angleterre’
Absolutely - good luck David. Sorry to hear about the disasters. You must have felt cheated last year. Better to fail in body than bike. I hope you saw some of Provence before the bike fell to pieces?
I have some trepidation myself even after doing it last year. At least the heat this summer has helped with the training. After the wet UK spring and summer the heat level was a real shock just walking around town the day before - let alone on Ventoux. I'm sorry to say that looking at the pros dropping like flies I have a nasty feeling that this year is going to be as bad if not worse. The mantra of "Stick to your own pace and take on plenty of liquid" will be even more prevalent on Sunday. It's always tempting to hare after some bucko who's come past you but if Ventoux was anything to go by - you may well see some of them again - all dazed and confused on the Tourmalet..
I'm not French or a mate of Alain Prost so will be sporting number 5568. I'm in Liverpool Mercury kit Blue, white, and black. You're sure to pick me out of the other 9500 riders.
