I recall in the Olympic road race not long afterwards, that Froome 'blew' while Wiggins continued to pull at the front for Cav.
Every cyclist has their good and bad days, to say that Froome was stronger than Wiggins in TdF 2012 based on the evidence of a couple of stages is extrapolating rather a lot. Plain Face

You can never tell how a purist team might do, looking at your team you could do appallingly or you could end up with a five way battle (Voeckler, Costa, Coppel, Westra, Hoogerland) for the KoM jersey and thrash everyone by a country mile.

The stem is not negative it is on the correct way. How many of you actually ride a bike rather just blog about them. Far too much colour matching. Saddles stem and blacks should be black. The frame looks like the ISP was an after thought, the seat post top is so badly designed. Ruins what is nice lookling frame. See a Look 696 to see how good a ISP can be designed. Look makes bikes and not marketing. Yes I do have one.

Crap, Coppel lost 12 minutes yesterday, that's his GC hopes done. Wonder if he's finally given up on his aspirations and will chase a stage win. Fingers crossed he goes for the polka dot jersey Big Grin

Other than that so far it hasn't gone entirely to plan. Cav dropped points on stage 1 and Bonnet hasn't really featured as I hoped. At least Kittel worked out well and I'm glad I didn't pick De Gendt in the end, shocked he dropped 17 minutes yesterday.

Re number of gears - you're unlikely to get much choice at this budget, and if you're looking at only spending 300 then it seems Btwin is the way forward..

If you can choose, however, a double (2 rings at the front) is better than a triple (3 rings) - weighs less, changes gear more smoothly, and you won't use the smallest ring anyway

that's pure conjecture. Sure he went up the road: could he have stayed out? we don't know. When he tried it again vs Cobo in the Vuelta, Cobo reeled him back in. Could he have gained enough time to make up for the shortcomings in the TT? maybe, maybe not. Sky's team orders that you so loathe gave them a 1-2 on the podium. whatever else you think about racing, the point of it is to win.

  • Tour de France Stage 31 year 7 weeks agoHave set ITV's live coverage

Have set ITV's live coverage to record, hoping I don't have to FFWD through most of a procession. Quite a few teams will surely be wanting to save their legs for tomorrow but we'll see...

stepho, I couldn't believe Bakelants stayed away, but the bunch either didn't take the six-man group seriously or they hadn't realised he was off the front. Great for Jens's roommate to ride like him in the finale and earn his moment in the limelight. The team gets something of value out of the Tour (they appear to have no real sprinters, climbers or GC contenders, unless Andy has found better form than most of us expect).

Just keep bringing in Vichot, and he never delivers, but know he will today if i ditch him, hey ho!

I ditched Vichot too today; don't think his team are strong enough to get him over the line in a decent placing if there's a bunch. Kwiatkowski seems like a strong pick (I was surprised by how well he sprinted on Saturday), but then I'm hardly an expert.

Cue solo breakaway win for Vichot etc.
