I have an Ultegra/Tiagra mix triple — it's a 2012 Giant Defy 0, so Ultegra shifters and derailleurs with the rest made up of Tiagra and R563.
I'm interested in switching to a compact with the option of a Wi-Fli like 11/32 on the cassette. The idea being that I can keep similar ratios, but have the simplicity of a double up front, with fewer gear changes and less trimming etc.
What are my options do you think? What can I keep from the current setup, and what are my options for the cassette?
Built professionally, Argon 2011 frame which retailed at £900 and is in medium which will be good for people around 5ft 6in to 6ft 1in. All parts have been torqued to recommended values and include Shimano Dura Ace Shifters, 105 Rear Mech, 105 Front Mech, Shimano wheels, Jagwire cables and fittings, FSA bars with Cannondale finishing kit. A chain catcher is fitted and all parts are current spec. Unridden with steerer uncut so you can fit to your size. Its a new bike... any questions please ask
I currently ride a Charge Filter Mid 2011, which is effectively a cross bike. I have come to realise that the groupset is pretty poor (Shimano 2300) and also fancy another bike for "nice weather" so that I can keep the Charge as my winter/training bike.
What do you think of these? It’d be used for club runs/sportives.
