British Cycling insurance

I am a member of British Cycling mainly for it's 3rd party insurance and assistance in the event of a collision. Recent post by person in collision with car relevent here! Often it seems the unrepresented cyclist v. insurance company means cyclist gets shafted. Have used it once (decades ago when some clubmates and I hit a large pothole) and was pretty pleased. Anyone used their service and had positive/negative experiences recently?
