Tweed Run London 2011

April 9th 2011: What a delightfully sunny day for the 3rd London Tweed Run. Donning my finest country tweed attire (read: only) I headed up from my Balham, South London manor towards St. Paul's Cathedral where I would hopefully be meeting similarly dressed cycling enthusiasts.

Chromatic Guide to Gear Ratios

If riding bikes, talking bikes, buying superfluous bike kit, going to the shops just to look at bike kit, dreaming about bicycles, dressing like a cyclist, fantasizing about racing bicycles, discussing the grand tours, and talking some more on the subject of cycling isn't enough to get your bike fix then why not hang a nice bit of bike art up on your wall to remind others that you enjoy this magnificent sport.

AFFINITY X RALPH LAUREN RLX CONCEPT BIKES

I spotted this on the Affinity bikes website, supposedly this collaboration with fancy fashion  designer Ralf Lauren has been 'under wraps' for a while now. As far as I can make out to my untrained eye balls, the global fashion house has chosen some frame colours and picked out some components that were 'hip' a couple of seasons ago. Either way, it is good to see prominent fashion figures taking a keen interest in bikes even if some will think that running a plastic wheel on the back is a bit passe. or as one person commented on the Affinity website:

Fell out of the gumtree

I saw this advertised in Gumtree. Interesting set-up.

Puppetry of the bike

“If it aint broke don’t fix it”, that’s what my dad used to always tell me. But some people just won’t leave things alone. I must admit, ignoring my father’s advice that I am a bit of a fettler but I don’t feel compelled to change something drastically, I just like tinkering with my bikes, a bit like girls doing their hair and make-up and stuff I presume.

Grace under pressure

Oh the irony. A rather sturdy looking electric bike with its electrical gubbins stuffed into the frame tubes like a fat girls legs in a pair of stockings. I think the marketing person had there tongue or possibly a danish pastry pressed firmly in their cheek when they named it. Possibly.

Eurobike 2010 – I spy with my little eye...

...something beginning with B.

Bikes, lots of bikes, enormous halls the size of football pitches full of bikes, every kind of bicycle you can imagine is here. If someone has dreamt up a bike it will more than likely be here, I’m at the world’s largest cycle show, Eurobike.

I'm gonna ride my bike until I get home

This little tune is going to stick in your head the next time you turn those pedals on your commute home.
